As Vice President of Development, Shana seeks to build authentic partnerships between BestPrep and the people and organizations that support our work to prepare students for the future. Shana leads the Development team in fundraising efforts—including grants and appeals—that sustain our programming, while cultivating strategic partnerships and nurturing relationships with current supporters. Creative problem-solving guides how Shana approaches this work, always centered on the students and communities BestPrep serves.

As the granddaughter of an elementary school principal and a fifth grade teacher, Shana carries forward a family legacy rooted in education. She joined BestPrep in 2013 and brings nearly 20 years of experience in nonprofit development to the role. A Texas native, Shana earned a B.A. in Sociology from Trinity University and an MPA from St. Mary's University, both in San Antonio.

Shana is always planning her next trip and loves exploring the world alongside her partner and daughter. When she's not traveling, she enjoys volunteering at her church and at her daughter’s school. She gets back to Texas every now and then to visit friends and family, and knows a thing or two about Tex-Mex.
