Classroom Speaker Request Forms Are Now Available

Online request forms for Classroom Plus and Financial Matters speakers are now available. Teachers can begin requesting volunteer classroom speakers on a variety of topics including job skills, career exploration, and financial literacy. Classroom speakers are business professionals who will work together with educators to bridge the gap between lessons learned in the classroom and skills needed for students’ future lives and careers. These knowledgeable volunteers complement your curriculum by engaging students in experiential learning. The newest presentation in the Financial Matters series, Income Tax, teaches students about this specific type of tax and how it could affect them.

Teachers Excelled During the Technology Integration Workshop

The BestPrep Technology Integration Workshop took place July 31 – August 3 with 61 teachers from across Minnesota strengthening their technology integration skills. During the Workshop, each attendee developed a technology-infused unit plan. That means that more than 7,500 students will have a more engaging classroom experience as those teachers use this newly-developed unit plan. Participating educators also visited corporate workplaces hosted by volunteer business partners and participated in a half-day job shadow allowing them to see the inside of their workplace and understand the workflow, the environment, and culture of their business.

The Classroom Plus and Financial Matters programs are seeking new volunteers interested in preparing students with business, career, and financial literacy skills.

MBV: We Got the Loan!

Minnesota Business Venture (MBV) is a summer residential opportunity for high school students. This summer marks the 37th summer for the program. 324 students from all over Minnesota took a week out of their summer to learn about career readiness, financial literacy, and business, while forming new friendships. Students were divided into teams to work through creating a fictitious company and developing a sales pitch for a new product. The finale of camp occurred when students present their product in “Shark Tank” fashion to a panel of volunteers acting as venture capitalists.

Investment in Vision: Wells Fargo’s Remarkable Support of BestPrep’s Programs

More than 40 years ago, Wells Fargo and BestPrep established a partnership that has been characterized by a unique enthusiasm for championing new ideas. On many occasions, funding from Wells Fargo has served as a fundamental springboard for BestPrep to pioneer programs and advance our mission. Wells Fargo boldly stepped up as an early partner in the rollout of BestPrep’s eMentors program, Technology Integration Workshop, and more recently, the launch of our Cloud Coach pilot at North High School.
