Golf Tournament Raises $87,000 for MBV Summer Camp

MBV students volunteer at the tournament.

This summer, BestPrep was honored as the recipient of the 2016 GEN Children’s Charity golf tournament, which raised a record $87,000! The proceeds from the event will provide low-income high school students the opportunity to attend the Minnesota Business Venture program. Hosted biennially by GEN Financial Advisors, this fundraising event brings awareness and resources to local organizations that focus on Minnesota’s children in need.

More than 120 golfers participated in the July 18 event at Minneapolis Golf Club. The event kicked off with a buffet lunch and networking for golfers, BestPrep staff and students. Eight Minnesota Business Venture (MBV) student alumni volunteered their time at the event to tell participants about their experience with the program. Following the tournament, participants enjoyed a wine pull and silent auction in the club house followed by dinner and an evening program. MBV alum Angad Jaspal from East Ridge High School spoke during the program about his experience attending camp and returning as a student leader in the CEO role.

The funds raised will go far in providing new opportunities for Minnesota youth. This summer, 35% of MBV participants came from low-income backgrounds, making this an incredible opportunity for the students we serve. BestPrep was honored to be selected as the beneficiary of this event and recognizes GEN Children’s Charity for their tremendous support.
