Heder Jang: Building Confidence at Minnesota Business Venture

BestPrep’s Minnesota Business Venture (MBV) program is a week-long summer camp that helps high school students explore careers, build leadership skills, and gain real world business experience through hands-on learning.

In the program’s 45-year history, MBV has made an impact on thousands of students, including one of this year’s returning student leaders, Heder Jang of John Marshall High School!

Heder first attended MBV the summer after her freshman year. She found a passion for business and a supportive community that helped her shape her future goals. Before MBV, Heder wasn’t sure what career path to choose, but the experience encouraged her to step out her comfort zone and opened her eyes to new opportunities.

As a returning student leader, Heder enjoys helping campers find their voice and build confidence along the way. One of her favorite parts of camp is watching her group of students grow throughout the week, becoming more comfortable with sharing their ideas and presenting their work. She’s also dedicated parts of her free time to working one-on-one with campers who struggled with public speaking during camp, helping them practice and build confidence.

Seeing those students succeed right in front of her became one of the most rewarding experiences as a leader. When asked what makes MBV different, Heder says, “It feels like a camp meant for the campers. Everything is for the campers.” The student-centered environment is what keeps her coming back and making an impact at MBV.
