Gabriella Watson: Empowering Leadership Through Minnesota Business Venture

Gabriella Watson, a student from Blaine High School, first attended Minnesota Business Venture (MBV) to strengthen her public speaking and leadership skills. Encouraged by her mother, a professor at the University of St. Thomas, Gabriella viewed the program as an opportunity to contribute her ideas and connect with like-minded people.

Her initial experience at MBV had a lasting impact. She discovered an affinity for purpose-driven communication and connecting with peers who shared her drive for personal growth. The supportive environment and meaningful friendships motivated her to return the following year as a Communications Specialist, a student leadership role that allowed her to highlight the program’s meaningful work.

Gabriella also credits MBV with helping her explore potential career paths and acquire new skills that are valuable in any field. She appreciates the professional connections she made and the personal growth that came from taking on a leadership role.

For students considering MBV, Gabriella encourages participation, emphasizing that the program offers opportunities to gain important skills, meet new people, and gain diverse perspectives. She describes MBV as an empowering experience with no downsides.

Gabriella’s journey from first-time camper to Communications Specialist embodies the core mission of MBV — helping students build confidence, leadership abilities, and lifelong connections that prepare them for success in college, careers, and beyond.
