Annual Luncheon 2015 Keynote Speaker Announced!

BestPrep is excited to announce Kim Nelson of General Mills as its keynote speaker for the 2015 Annual Luncheon. Kim currently serves as General Mills’ Senior Vice President, External Relations and as the President of General Mills Foundation. In this role, Kim oversees and coordinates the company’s global relationships with key external constituencies.

Kim has been a corporate officer of General Mills since 2000, with her most recent role being the President of General Mills Snacks Division. She has 26 years of operating experience including leading a variety of brands including Cheerios, Wheaties, Nature Valley, Fiber One, Yoplait, Hamburger Helper, Old El Paso and Chex Mix.

Kim is very engaged in the Twin Cities community with a current focus on improving education outcomes for children of color. Kim serves as a director on the Northside Achievement Zone and Partners in Food Solutions Boards. She is Co-Chair of Generation Next, an organization focused on closing education achievement gaps in the Twin Cities, and a member of the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs Advisory Council.

General Mills helped lead the pilot project that began in 1973 which ultimately led to the founding of BestPrep in 1976. As a founding member, General Mills has played an integral part in BestPrep reaching more than 1.4 million students since it’s inception.

Ms. Nelson will give the keynote presentation at the May 19 Annual Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis. The event will honor BestPrep’s outstanding volunteers and educators with awards of excellence.
