Thanks to the sponsorship of Thomson Reuters, BestPrep conducted the student essay competition for Minnesota high school students in conjunction with the Educational Forum. The Forum is a biennial event launched in 2008 to explore topics of current relevance for business and education. This year’s essay prompt challenged students to consider the role of character development in their education.
The top 20 winners have been announced out of a total 415 essay submissions. The students and their teachers will be awarded special prizes and recognized at a celebratory reception with the Educational Forum keynote speaker Alan Page at the event on October 24, 2017 at the St. Paul RiverCentre.
The top five winners in the competition were:
- Laura Rishovd, Elk River High School
- Sophia Kruger, Elk River High School
- Bashir Muhumed, Southwest High School
- Emily Sizen, Elk River High School
- Amanda Krinke, Buffalo High School
Special thanks to all the essay judges who volunteered their time to read and grade the essays, and to all of the educators who supported their students in writing them. Lastly, congratulations to each student who submitted an essay! With so many incredibly essay submissions, it was a challenging process for the judges to choose just 20 and we’re proud of everyone who participated!
