Help a Teacher by Being a Business Partner Volunteer

Would you like to have the opportunity to show teachers the skills your company is looking for in the next generation of professionals? As a half-day Business Partner volunteer you can showcase the skills your company is looking for and create a personal connection with a school and educator.

BestPrep’s Technology Integration Workshop (TIW) is a professional development opportunity for educators interested in integrating technology and workplace skills into their curriculum. Crucial to the success of the TIW is the opportunity for teachers to experience a workplace very different from their own, gaining insight into the careers and workplace skills that employers will be looking for from their students in the future.

Time Commitment:

  • Monday, July 27 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
Business Partners meet with their assigned teacher over lunch, provided by BestPrep, at the University of St. Thomas downtown Minneapolis
  • Tuesday, July 28, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Teachers travel to your workplace for a half-day job shadow.

During the job shadow, Business Partners explain how their department and position fit into the company and its mission, and to show the teacher a project that they are working on currently. Other meaningful conversations include a discussion about the skills used on the job, how the company recruits, trains, and what they are looking for in future employees. This can be a great opportunity for a team, as Business Partners are encouraged to schedule a meeting with colleagues, Human Resources, or other Business Partners to provide a variety of knowledge and experiences with the educator.

To register as a Business Partner apply online as soon as possible. For more information, please contact Bonnie Vagasky at 763-233-6330 or bvagasky@bestprep.org.
