BestPrep salutes partner Charles Schwab for its generosity, support, and volunteerism. While some of the company’s employees started volunteering in classrooms as early as 2008, Charles Schwab ramped up its involvement and became one of the organization’s strongest champions four years ago.

Charles Schwab employees volunteer their time in BestPrep’s Classroom Plus, eMentors, Financial Matters, Technology Integration Workshop, and Stock Market Game programs. They’ve served as committee members, mentors, mock interviewers, event speakers, board members, and classroom speakers on topics including Career as Financial Advisor, taxes, insurance, housing, budgeting, and more. In total, they’ve donated nearly 400 hours of service to Minnesota students.

“Partnering with Charles Schwab has been key to the success of BestPrep’s programming. Having a leader in the industry provide support and incorporating their volunteers’ perspective into our work is critical to creating relevant and meaningful learning experiences for students as they learn and develop business, career, and financial literacy skills,” said Stephanie Musgrove, BestPrep Program Manager.

In 2016, Jay Robinson, Vice President and Managing Director of Charles Schwab Advisor Services, reconnected with BestPrep through GEN’s Children’s Charities and hit the ground running. Jay, along with John Bina from Focus Financial, helped create BestPrep’s newest Classroom Plus presentation “Career as a Financial Advisor” by providing content and funding for the project. He also worked with the Charles Schwab Foundation to cover all Stock Market Game fees for three consecutive years. The foundation’s dedication to financial education and volunteerism has created fantastic opportunities for BestPrep and the Stock Market Game program, resulting in 30% increased student participation.

In 2019, Jay received the organization’s Bunzel Volunteer of the Year award at its Annual Luncheon event for his incredible advocacy and commitment to the students of Minnesota.

Hats off to Charles Schwab for its continued partnership and dedication to the students in our community!
