SJU 2015: Crunch Time!

The Vice President of Fan Experience for the Timberwolves and Lynx, Jeff Munneke, shared some advice with MBV students.

“The phone’s not going to ring for you. You have to make it ring.”

“Whoever you talk to, make sure they are the most important person.”

Munneke also stressed the importance of open-ended dialogue in the corporate setting. His advice connected with students of all backgrounds.


Students had the opportunity to practice the advice that Munneke gave them by completing some speed networking. They practiced asking each other open-ended questions to each other.


Several Allstate Insurance agents visited St. John’s to talk to students about the factors that determine the cost of insurance. Students took away some valuable information that they will use in the near future.


Companies attended two different breakout sessions this afternoon: Ethics and Philanthropy. The relevant information they received will benefit them for the rest of their lives.


It may be crunch time for students (they present their business plans tomorrow), but the finance team was reinforced by some members of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP. They helped with the spreadsheets and presentations for all companies.
