Andrea Kemink, an AVID teacher at Brooklyn Center Secondary, has been involved with BestPrep for 13 years! She’s incorporated Financial Matters and Classroom Plus into her curriculum, witnessing the transformative impact on students.
Reflecting on BestPrep’s programs, Andrea states that one of the most lasting benefits is how “students gain valuable information about real-world concepts such as financial literacy, taxes, and college and career choices.”
She continues to go in-depth about how BestPrep’s content reinforces the concepts learned in AVID (college readiness program). She highlights that having professional speakers allows for an interactive component and ensures these lessons resonate long after each session is completed.
Andrea has also observed increased student engagement through BestPrep’s programs, driven by diverse topics and presenters, such as Tina Jones from Blaze Credit Union’s talk on “How to Pay for College.”
The lasting impact of these programs is evident. Andrea shares, “At the very least, students will remember the concepts or people they’ve interacted with, which can help them feel confident in investigating and exploring further.”
Through BestPrep’s programs, Andrea’s students are not just learning lessons, they’re building a foundation for success that will last long after they leave the classroom.
