Students

BestPrep’s mission is to provide Minnesota and Twin Cities students with the resources and skills they need to become college-prepared, work-ready, and career-bound. We accomplish that by building the bridge between business volunteers and teachers to provide hands-on experiences inside and outside of the classroom. BestPrep works with 500 teachers at 330 schools to impact 35,000 students annually with the help of 5,840 volunteers. BestPrep has seven programs: Classroom Plus, Cloud Coach, eMentors, Financial Matters, The Stock Market Game, Minnesota Business Venture, and Technology Integration Workshop.

If you’re a student or parent, looking to utilize BestPrep programs, contact us! We would love to hear from you!

Programs

Minnesota Business Venture

Spend a week on campus with other high school students for a business and career development summer camp! You will work in teams or “companies” to create a product or service and present the business plan to a panel of judges, similar to Shark Tank. This program is a great opportunity for students interested in business, career direction, planning for college, or making new friends.

Classroom Plus and Financial Matters

Listen to speakers from the professional world discuss topics that will prepare you better for the future. You’ll learn about money management and workplace skills. These programs also provide mock interviews, workplace tours, and career days.

Cloud Coach and eMentors

Students are paired with business professionals, who provide online mentorship in eight weekly email conversations. You’ll discuss topics including career and college options, how to stay motivated in school, planning your future, and more. You will meet your mentor in-person at their workplace to continue conversations and get a tour of their office.

The Stock Market Game™

Students work in teams to invest $100,000 of virtual money in the stock market while also building a fundamental knowledge of the global economy. Students manage their portfolios and buy and sell securities. They learn about the power and long-term value of investing, as well as the risk associated with it.
