The Stock Market Game™ (SMG) gives students in grades 4-12 a virtual $100,000 to invest in the stock market and learn about our economy firsthand on a local, national and even global scale. This experiential tool increases students’ financial literacy and emphasizes the importance of investing. Participating students gain a richer understanding of the U.S. economic system, current events and teamwork – skills necessary for future success
The SMG is a flexible way to engage students in learning, incorporating multiple disciplines including social studies, math and language arts. The project-based style of the program teaches students skills such as teamwork, decision making and critical thinking.
You do not need to be a financial or stock expert to facilitate The SMG in your classroom. BestPrep and The SMG provide training, lesson plans, and ongoing support to ensure you and your students have an excellent experience with the program.
Use this excellent resource for free! Generous support from our sponsors has allowed us to provide scholarships for Minnesota schools participating in The SMG. You can currently participate in The SMG at no cost to your school. Students participate in teams of 2-5 students. (Regular cost is $20-$30 per team, depending on session.)
